| Suspect Arrested for Common Law

Steven Eric
Smith, 28, left, was arrested on September 19, 2007 and charged
with common law robbery.
On Wednesday, September 19, 2007 at 2:19 pm,
the Burke County Sheriff's Office responded to 1218 Drexel Road in reference to
a strong armed robbery. |

| The victim, Oliver
Alexander Abernathy, 40, told deputies that he was sitting in his living room
when a subject grabbed him around the neck and began hitting him in the
head. |

| Mr. Abernathy stated the
subject took his wallet out of his back pocket, took his money, and left the
wallet. The subject then reportedly left the scene. Mr. Abernathy called for
help as soon as the suspect fled. |

| The Criminal
Investigations Division of the Burke County Sheriff's Office arrived on the
scene and began their investigation. The victim provided investigators with a
suspect named Steve Smith, a man who had mowed his lawn in the past. |

| Steven Eric Smith was
located by investigators and was charged with common law robbery. Smith was
placed in the Burke County jail under a $50,000.00 secured bond. His first
court appearance is scheduled for Friday, September 21, 2007. |
