| Man Arrested for Attempted
Robbery |

Sammy
Zane Carroll, 25, of 8520 Watts Avenue, Connelly Springs, was arrested
on November 14, 2007 for attempted robbery, and resist, obstruct, and delay an
officer.
Mr. Carroll had attempted to rob the First Citizens Banks
located at 711 Malcolm Blvd., Rutherford College. |
| On
Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at approximately 2:25 pm, the Burke County
Sheriff's Office received a call from First Citizens Bank in Rutherford College
in reference to an attempted robbery. |

| The caller reported the
bank was closed for several hours, and a white male wearing a black toboggan,
white shirt, gloves, and jeans came from behind their bank and attempted to
gain entry, but the doors were locked. |

| Deputies and detectives
arrived on the scene within minutes, and with the assistance of a K-9, were
able to track the suspect to a field behind the bank, where it is believed the
suspect got into a vehicle. |

| During the
investigation, detectives received information that provided them with a
possible suspect. Detectives were familiar with the suspect and began to search
known locations. |

| Detectives located the
suspect a short time later and transported him back to the bank for
identification purposes. The suspect was positively identified by the bank
manager as the person that attempted to make entry into the bank. |

| The clothing the suspect
was wearing in the bank video of the attempted robbery was located by
detectives in the suspect's vehicle. Detectives charged the suspect with
attempted robbery and resist, obstruct, and delay an officer. |

| Mr. Carroll was placed
in the Burke County Jail under $115,000.00 secured bond for both charges. The
magistrate placed conditions on Carroll that he not be able to post bond until
he is fingerprinted and photographed by authorities. |

| Carroll will have his
first court appearance in Burke County District Court on Friday, November 16,
2007 at 9:00 am. |
