Man Charged with Larceny by Employee
 
 
Zachary Scott Watson, 22, of 4940 Hilltop Drive, Hickory, NC has been charged with two counts of larceny by employee.

Watson was employed by Burke Grading and Paving in Valdese, NC.
 
On June 30, 2008, Tim Looper, Vice President of Burke Grading and Paving reported a large quantity of fuel and a large amount of stone stolen from the company.
 
The case was turned over to the Criminal Investigations Division of the Burke County Sheriff's Office. During the investigation, several witnesses came forward with information about the missing fuel and stone. The witnesses also had information about a Dell laptop computer stolen from Pallet 1 in Catawba County.
 
At the time of the incident, Zachary Scott Watson was employed as a foreman at Burke Grading and Paving. It was alleged that Watson had been storing the stolen fuel at his residence and delivering stolen gravel to residences around the county on his days off, while using Burke Grading and Paving equipment. Watson was also linked to the stolen laptop from Pallet 1.
 
On July 9, 2008, Zachary Scott Watson turned himself into the Criminal Investigations Division, after warrants had been issued for his arrest for two counts of larceny by employee.
 
Watson was also served with a warrant for breaking and entering and larceny and possession of stolen goods from an unrelated incident. Watson was placed in the Burke County Jail under a $10,000.00 secured bond. His first court appearance is July 11, 2008.
 
Zachary Scott Watson is also currently wanted in Catawba County for felony larceny of the laptop computer.
