Numerous B&E's to Vehicles Solved

Paul Anthony Lunsford II Barry Ronnie Carver, Jr. Lillian Cheric Watson

On September 21, 2008, at approximately 2:00 am, Sgt. T.L. Branch of the Valdese Police Department located a suspicious vehicle parked in front of D&C Custom Paints in Valdese.

Upon investigating, Sgt. Branch was able to determine that there had been subjects inside the fence of the business. A search of the building did not yield any suspects, however, officers were able to locate Lillian Cheric Watson in a 1998 Ford F-150 belonging to Paul Anthony Lunsford.

After several moments, Lunsford and Barry Ronnie Carver, Jr. returned to the vehicle claiming to have been looking for assistance due to car problems. All three subjects were detained and taken to the Valdese Police Department for questioning.

It was learned that Carver had stolen a 2002 Kia Sephia from Moose Motors in Drexel, NC, and the group had taken the vehicle to the Huffman Bridge area and stripped the car. The vehicle was recovered soon after.

Through a joint investigation effort of the Burke County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division, and the Valdese Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, detectives were able to solve numerous vehicle breaking and enterings and larcenies, some of which were unreported at the time. Detectives were also able to recover a large amount of stolen property.

Charges are forthcoming for all three suspects, pending further investigation.
