Suspect Caught on Camera

Ana Teresa Domingo, 21, of 207 Ervin Rd. Morganton, was caught by a video surveillance system during a break-in to a residence in Drexel.

The break-in took place on September 22, 2008, between the hours of 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.

Mr. Ricky Dula, the owner of the residence, had installed a video surveillance system at his residence after a previous break-in.

Members of the Burke County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division and the Valdese Police Department were able to view the video and obtain a license plate image from the recordings of Dula's surveillance system.

The license plate led detectives to an apartment in Hickory, NC, where information was gathered that led the investigation back to a residence on Ervin Rd. in Morganton. Detectives were able to locate the suspects, Ana Teresa Domingo, and an unnamed fifteen year old juvenile. Two more suspects are yet unnamed.

Domingo agreed to accompany detectives to the Burke County Sheriff's Office, where she provided information on numerous break-ins over the last six months in both Burke and Caldwell counties.

Charges are pending on four suspects (two other unnamed) pending further investigation.
