Three
Year Old Dies after Vehicle Accident |

| On April 12,
2009, at approximately 3:00 pm, deputies from the Burke County Sheriff's Office
responded to the scene of a fatal accident at 145 Brentwood Road in
Morganton. |

| Deputies
responding to the scene discovered that Caleb Isaiah Brittain, three years of
age, had been run over by a Chevrolet Tahoe that belonged to a friend of the
family. |
| |
| Further
investigation by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Sheriff's Office
revealed that Brittain, and two other children, were playing in and around the
vehicle at the time of the accident. Brittain was struck by the vehicle when it
rolled forward after having the gear shift pulled into neutral. |

| Brittain was
transported to Grace Hospital where he died a short time later. |
| |
| There are no
charges pending in this case at this time. |
