| On January
20, 2010, the Burke County Sheriff's Office conducted a Sex Offender Round-Up.
|
| |
| Burke County
deputies checked all sex offenders to ensure they were residing at the
addresses listed on their sex offender registration. |
| |
| North
Carolina General Statute requires all sex offenders to register with their
local Sheriff's Office. The statute also requires all sex offenders to notify
their local Sheriff's Office of any change of address. |
| |
| During the
round-up, deputies found that the above four registered sex offenders have
moved from their listed addresses and have failed to notify the authorities of
their new address. |
| |
| Anthony
Teldon Whitlock, Marshall Scott Evans, Paul Jay South, and David Lee Fleming
were found in violation of the statute and have been charged. |
| |
| Burke County
Sheriff's Office has active warrants on the subjects listed above for |
| failure to
change address as a registered sex offender. |
| |

| On February
4, 2010, at approximately 4:00 pm, Paul Jay South turned himself in to
authorities and was scheduled a court date of February 5, 2010 on charges of
failure to notify change of address. |
| |
| On February
8, 2010, at approximately 12:00 pm, two more sex offender suspects were
arrested as a result of the on-going search to bring them to justice. David Lee
Fleming was arrested and scheduled a court date of February 10, 2010, and
Marshall Scott Evans was arrested on three counts of failure to appear and one
count of failure to register. Evans is also facing several probation violation
charges and is currently being held under a $109,000.00 secured bond. His court
date was scheduled for February 10, 2010. |

| On February
11, 2010, at approximately 3:00 pm, the last of the four men was arrested.
Anthony Teldon Whitlock was arrested and placed in the Burke Catawba Dentention
Facility under a $10,000.00 secured bond. His court appearance is scheduled for
February 12, 2010. |
